We believed guest guides could do better.
That’s why we built a visual design system for HostyGuides that combines brand flexibility, exceptional performance, and a guest-first experience.
The Challenge
Holiday rentals are incredibly diverse.
A countryside cottage has a very different personality from a modern city apartment. A luxury lodge feels different from a family-friendly glamping site. Yet most guest guide platforms force every property into the same visual template.
At the same time, guests expect information to be easy to access, quick to load, and available wherever they are—even in areas with poor mobile signal.
We set out to solve both problems.
A Different Approach
Instead of creating a single design theme, we developed a shared user experience framework supported by multiple visual identities.
This means every HostyGuide follows the same intuitive structure, while still reflecting the character of the property behind it. Guests benefit from consistency. Hosts benefit from individuality.
Six Distinct Visual Palettes
To support different property styles, we created six visual palettes.
Coastal
Inspired by seaside escapes, the Coastal palette uses airy layouts, soft blues, and light, open spaces that feel calm and welcoming.
Luxury
The Luxury palette introduces deeper tones, refined accents, and premium visual treatments designed for high-end properties and boutique stays.
Boutique
Warm colours, handcrafted details, and intimate styling help boutique properties communicate character and personality.
Country
Earthy tones and nature-inspired elements create a sense of comfort and connection to the surrounding landscape.
Glamping
Playful, organic, and outdoor-focused, the Glamping palette captures the spirit of unique stays and adventure-led experiences.
Modern Apartments
Clean typography, crisp layouts, and minimal styling provide a contemporary experience for urban properties. Although each palette feels different, guests always know where to find what they need.
Consistency Where It Matters
While visual styling changes, the core experience remains consistent.

This approach reduces friction for guests while allowing hosts to showcase their unique brand.
Performance Is Part of the Experience
Many guest guide platforms prioritise visual features at the expense of performance. We took the opposite approach.
A guest guide is often accessed immediately after arrival, sometimes in rural areas where connectivity is limited. Waiting for pages to load is frustrating and unnecessary.
HostyGuides are designed to be lightweight, fast, and reliable.
The result is a platform that loads in under a second, remains usable offline, and performs exceptionally well even on slower connections. For guests, that means information is available exactly when it’s needed.
